happy weekend.

Look at those two pretending like they love each other. Does it remind you of anything? Maybe this is a stretch, but...

Have a happy weekend!

lovely lady outtakes.

When Laura and I were taking photos for my lovely lady feature, our second location was my roof. I really liked how they turned out, but they just didn't compare to the shots I chose. However, I still thought I could share a few with you.

Cheers!

lovely lady.

Good morning, all! I'm so happy to report that I am the Lovely Lady over on Emma's blog today. Go check out the post to find out a little more about me.

These are a couple of silly bonus shots from the day. My friend Laura came down to take the photos and clearly, it was a lot of fun.

i bought glasses. #20.

If you follow me on Instagram, you probably already know that I finally bought my glasses. If not, you should know that I finally bought my glasses. You can see my choices here. I went with the Fillmore in sandalwood matte. I would highly recommend Warby Parker to anyone who needs a pair. The customer service was excellent and they were really speedy on the delivery. Plus, now I can see!

I am officially crossing off #20 on the list. Yay!

saying thank you is awesome. #7 & #12.

Remember like two weeks ago when I actually posted on this blog? I know, it's hard to remember. Instead, I've been enjoying this unseasonably warm weather in all of its glory. But today my friends, I thought it would be nice if I (finally!) shared the thank you cards I did for Samuel's birthday party.

I'm really happy with how they turned out (my professional photography skills are another story). I used the wood grain paper again because it is so very awesome. And for bonus points, this helps with #7 and #12 on the list.

And remember, saying thank you is awesome.

happy weekend.

How fun would it be to go on a road trip in this VW? That won't be happening this weekend, but I have a few lovely things planned. I'm ready to get the party started.

I hope your weekend is filled with an adventure.

Happy Weekend!

say cheese. #9.

A few weeks ago, I volunteered to work for Smilebooth. We worked a very long day (17 hours!), but honestly, it was a lot of fun. It's such a cool company. If I ever get married, I would definitely consider using them at my wedding. You should, too!

This all happened because of the interent. I had never met or even talked to anyone from Smilebooth. They put a call out on twitter and I responded. Basically, they were in my hood, I rearranged some things and decided to help out. I love the interent.

I am really trying to put myself out there and work towards #9 on the list. This was a fun way to try and do that. If only for a day...

a lovely afternoon. #26.

This weekend, my parents came down to take Nate and I out to lunch. We ate at a local pub and had drinks at my neighborhood bar. I often spend weekends cooped up trying to catch up on freelance work. It was nice to spend the afternoon out. Plus, I am making it a goal this year to spend more time with family and friends (#26 on the list).

I'm in love with that wooden structure in the top photo. It sits inside of a community garden and there are benches within. I bet it's nice to sit out there when the weather allows. And how cool is the knitted tree? So cool. I have seen this on the internet before, but this was my first time seeing it in Detroit. It made me really excited. Also, I think that graffiti is completely adorable. It makes me smile every time I walk by.

All weekends should be filled with things like this. I made plans with a girlfriend today to visit a new, cozy bar this weekend. I can't wait.

girl crush. #9.

Thanks to The Jealous Curator, I will be meeting Shauna (one half) of Something's Hiding In Here and hanging out in her gorgeous loft. I will probably say this one million times before October, but I am excited. Really excited about this.

The event is called Girl Crush. It's an art workshop and tea party. I know. Lovely, right? To break it down simply, there will be 14 people (including the hosts) and we are going to drink tea, talk about art and make some, too!

Did I mention how excited I am about this? So excited that I am making the trek from Detroit to Philly. It's turned into a mini vacation with my BFF Sarah. I will be flying to New York to stay with her and we (she's coming, too!) will take the train from Brooklyn to Philly. When we come back, I will hang out in New York for a few days. We're gettin' our inspirational, girl-time on. It's going to be awesome.

These are some of the amazing things created by Something's Hiding In Here. Do yourself a favor and check out their Etsy shop. You won't regret it. I am lucky enough to have a bunch of their stuff in my home. It's awesome. All of it.

And this is me sportin' one of their Forage (lady) bow ties. See. It's awesome. I don't lie.

One of my goals this year (#9 on the list) is to work toward going freelance. I think this event will be much appreciated in that department. It's always good to put yourself out there, talk to other creatives and learn new things. It's going to be great.

Is it October yet?

let's make things. #12.

I made a necklace. Also, it's kind of awesome. If you can braid (of course you can!), you should make one, too. It's settled then. You can find the instructions in Interwoven (mentioned here).

Isn't it fantastic? It felt so good to take a computer break and create in a different way (#12 on the list). Plus, now I have something awesome to wear.

This is me. Workin' it.

I'm hooked. I will be making more of these. There are so many possibilities.
